Packing Potatoes at B&B Farms
The four million pounds of potatoes they picked at B&B Farms last fall are about halfway gone, right on track to keep us in French fries and Stoemp until next fall’s crop.
We learned on a recent visit that potatoes are stored unwashed and dry for better keeping, and that they’re moved around from one part of the operation to another using different kinds of conveyors.
These potatoes have been washed and dried and are now being packed for sale.
B&B Farms grow white potatoes, reds, Yukon Golds and Russets, and you can find their product at lots of chain grocery stores. They also supply great local restaurants like Beefcake’s Burger Factory, Tomlin Restaurant, The Sal – Salsbury Grill, Bonobo’s Foods and lots more!
