Thanks to long, sunny summer days we grow great grasses in this area, and Thunder Bay is home to an impressive number of farmers raising livestock. In these listings you’ll find farmers offering beef, pork, lamb, goat and rabbit. Most of these farmers offer meat by the side or the whole, although some offer retail cuts – typically you’ll find this option at farmers’ markets and at select retailers. Local meats are available year-round, and are typically sold frozen.
Uninspected, ungraded eggs are available at farm-gate from a few farmers, and you’ll find inspected local eggs available at farm stores and farm tables at our farmers’ markets as well. Egg production tends to drop off a little when the days are shorter, reducing the supply in the winter months.
